They periodically report to the parish and the school population on the school’s progress toward those goals. Board Meetings are held monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Hartke Room. Specific teams meet between regular board meetings to pursue designated topics including marketing, finance, curriculum, technology, and facilities and maintenance. Board members are elected. They serve a three-year term with about a third of the board members rolling off each year. Direct questions or concerns to the president of the board listed above.

The club and its members participate in the life of the church, are involved in the projects and ministries of the parish, and provide physical, emotional, spiritual and financial resources where and when they are needed. The club reaches out to the community, the archdiocese, and to society at large through service that reflects our role as disciples of Christ. The Newman-Columbus Council 1077 of the Knights of Columbus serves St. John Newman, St. Mary’s, and St. Nicholas parishes, and Sheil Catholic Center. Meetings are at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of the month at the St. Mary’s Parish Center. Service programs include parish-sponsored events, Special Olympics, soup kitchen support, and the Tootsie Roll Drive to support programs for individuals with mental disabilities. Membership is open to all Catholic men 18 years or older. Annual dues are $30. Call or email the contacts above to learn more and become involved at any level.

This course is designed with the person in mind who is new to parish ministry. Each session will focus on a particular aspect of the Ministry of Care; however, the unifying thread woven through all is a commitment to helping you develop the skills and confidence needed to be a source of comfort to those who are sick. Completion of this course qualifies you to receive the Archdiocesan mandate to bring Communion to the sick, homebound and hospitalized of your parish. Fee, which includes a copy of Handbook for Ministers of Care, 3rd Edition will be paid for by St. John Newman. Questions? Preparation begins in 7th grade, continues through 8th, studying the life of Christ as Servant, includes one annual day retreat, 3-4 community formation nights led by NET Ministry , classroom formation and completion of service projects prior to the reception of the sacrament. JULY 23-28, 2023 What is it? The Totus Tuus program aims to inspire young people to long for holiness, develop a deep desire for conversion and personally renew their faith with a stronger prayer life. Through evangelization and catechesis, Totus Tuus seeks to foster openness to the sacrifices and blessings of the various Christian vocations. Five Pillars of Totus Tuus: 1. The Eucharist 2. Marian Devotion 3. Catechetical Instruction 4. Vocational Discernment 5. FUN What is the Curriculum? The Sacred Scriptures and the Catechism of the Catholic Church provide the foundation of the catechetical instruction of the Totus Tuus summer program. Thus, Totus Tuus divides the four pillars of the Catechism into a six-year teaching cycle. Year One (2018): The Apostles Creed Year Two (2019): The Sacraments Year Three (2021): The 10 Commandments Year Five (2022): Prayer and Our Father Year Six (2023): The Mystery of Salvation To parallel this six-year cycle, Totus Tuus follows a four-year cycle dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary: The Joyful Mysteries The Luminous Mysteries The Sorrowful Mysteries The Glorious Mysteries Program Hours: Day Program: For students entering grades 1-6. The Day Program runs Monday through Friday , July 24-28, 2023 from 9am to 2:30pm. Night Program: For students entering grades 7-12.
